    Hey,
The issue is with your CDN. none of your files are there. Everything is showing 404 error see: http://cdn.brookdalehouse.com/wp-content/cache/minify/000000/M9bPKixNLarUMYYydHMz04sSS1L1cjPzAA.js?5448c6

At least that is what it appears to be on the surface. Website is all scary looking.

It looks great without w3 total cache, but can use w3 total cache with a default theme other than virtue.
I don’t want to change themes at all.

    Here is the site,
    http://www.brookdalehouse.com

By the way, it was just transferred from A small Orange to Liquid Web over night.
Before the move, no problems at all.

I’d get rid of W3 if necessary. Hoping I won’t have to. I also have a cdn, but I don’t know if that
    makes a difference.

    #35274

I changed it to 24px and cleared cache. It now shows well.
Sorry to bother you guys with such a basic issue. I always forget to clear cache…

Clear you wp super cache after every change in the settings.

If you are “page caching” the front page with w3 total cache then it won’t run the script to check for mobile slider since it will server a cached page from a desktop user. You can deactivate the page cache just for the front page in your w3 total cache settings.
Or You can add in a slider in the content and load both, then use css to hide one based on screen size. Since you kind of already doing that with your revolution slider and not adding it through the theme options you might like that route better.

I had mistakenly created two home pages. I permanently deleted one and now just have the one, but the breadcrumbs show home-home-about or home-home-leadership. I tried turning off breadcrumbs and clearing the cache, but that didn’t work. URL is

Can you advise? Thanks so much.

What plugin are you using? The string is part of the .pot file and it’s in the language strings. Once you update you need to add something to your cart, that will clear the cache.

    Hey,

I think you might be misunderstanding how google page speed works and what it’s for. See: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2F

Google page speed is not what is going to be used in the search algorithm. It’s a tool, it’s helpful as a tool to show how your site is being rendered. Its not an end all for what is the best and it doesn’t take into account retina screens.

Amazon loads a completely different mobile site. optimized just for mobile. There site is not a responsive site that does both, which is what this theme is. And it’s score is similar to yours. They aren’t worried, and for you, images are not your biggest mobile issue.

First lets talk resolution. Google mobile insight doesn’t view it as if you were on a retina screen. Considering most phones are, Iphone in particular it’s wrongly showing that your image size is way too big. It’s not, in fact iphone6 (not the plus that is even larger) has a screen pixel resolution of 750×1334

Google checks your site at 320px wide. Less then half the size of the current most popular phone size (in US).

As for your layout. One way to make google page speed happy (if that is what your going for, I recommend you reconsider though) is to make your images in your post a gallery. Three or four columns. Then you are asking the viewer to click on the image and view the lightbox (full) version. Then on mobile your columns become one and you are loading smaller images. This in general will keep your whole page size down dramatically.

Other options for your post layout is to consider a mobile theme plugin which would create a completely separate page for mobile.

Or you can use one of the experimental methods to change images sizes based on the screen like we talked about before with just remember to take retina into account.

The biggest thing is results are what matter, how fast is your site loading. Not page insight tests. I really recommend you focus on making your site faster by making choices about server, CDN, caching (w3 total cache is better then super cache in my opinion) and overall how your displaying your content. Your using a responsive theme which means you need to be thinking about mobile when you create pages. Do some things like limiting how many large images you are going to place on a page. maybe you add 2 and then a gallery grid. Etc

    Hi Ben

WP Smush.it is turned off but I had the issue again today. WP Super cache is turned on.

    Very random. See image

Don’t know if this is some sort of db issue?

    Regards

Yeah by network I was meaning how you accessed the internet.

Hmm, I can’t seem to get the error to happen on my phone. It could be an caching issue with the temporary address. Or a timing out issue. Once you are on your live domain add this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/

Turn on browser and page caching and then give it a day to see if it happens to you again.

I always recommend w3 total cache over super cache.

Your home page images could all be sized down a bit. doesn’t seem like any of theme have been compressed and saved for web? For example this image: http://andylubertinaturephotography.nl/andylubertinaturephotography.nl/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Zeearendbanner3324.jpg

is 1.1MB and I just opened in photoshop and saved for web. The file size after is 0.2mb.

Makes a huge difference over the entire site.

Have you cleared the cache? Deactivated plugins to see if there is a conflict?

Have you contacted your host to check the php error logs see if something is triggering an error?

I’m not seeing anything strange? What should I be looking for? Did you clear your cache?

Can you try clearing your wp super cache so I can see a current version of your site? Right now from the version I can see every single image on your site has four Ws

Hi Guys. Could any one please tell me the best settings for w3 total cache for the theme. I have followed you tube videos for instillation and getting goo test results for the site but getting to my shop categories is very slow. I think it has something to do with the minify but not sure. Kind regards. Paul

    #34298

    Can you post a link.
If you are using wp-super cache disabling it won’t work, You have to delate the cache in the plugin settings then turn caching off.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for the quick response. I’ve tried using a plugin like header and footer scripts and have disabled my cache plugin, but it doesn’t seem to have made a difference.
