No, I had to remove W3 Total Cache – it broked the site.

    Hi,

    still the problem remains in Facebook sharing;
sometimes it works and sometimes not (http://autuuttaaivoille.fi/kampita-stressi-ja-paha-olo-ihanilla-tavoilla/)

This is really mystery, cause Pingdom shows that the site is fast enough now.
I also added W3 Total Cache -plugin.

    Yours,
    Milla

Hi Casrten, I’m seeing your text and posts to the left on both pages. What browser are you using? Have you tried clearing your cache?

wp-super-cache is running on your page, I can see the notice in the code. If you disabled the plugin it doesn’t mean it stops working, You have to activate, go to the plugin settings. disabled it there. Then you can deactivate the plugin.

    Thanks for your support!

Yeah, that file is duplicated into my child theme under the same folder templates. I just loaded the page and now I saw a change that I made. How do I ensure that all cache or temporary files are eradicated before I proceed making changes so that I can see an up to date version in my browser? I have noticed that css changes are noticed immediately but php changes take some time (angry face). I do not have wp-super-cache enabled. I hate that thing while making changes.

Sorry for the silly questions. But I do my best to make sure all my new clients buy the license to virtue premium theme every time. Right now I bought 3 licenses so I hope that helps 🙂

    Thanks,
    Emre

    Hey,
You are using w-super-cache. Did you delete the cache after every change you made?

You are overriding content-single.php. That should be in a folder called “templates” in your child theme. Is that correct?

Are you aware that this file also controls single blog posts? Removing classes will have an effect on all content that uses that template.

    Hi,

I am trying to make some edits on the templates for a client. I am new to php so I am having some trouble. On page “ niture/?attachment_id=1928” I think one of the main templates being used is the template “content-single.php” I know this by playing around and doing some snooping. Also I know this because I added my own button <button onclick="history.go(-1);">Back </button> and I see the result in my browser.

Now the problem lies when I try to change the classes you have selected for this page “entry-content clearfix”. I replaced that with my own class called “myownclass” but for some reason I do not see this in the html of the browser when I save this template in my child theme. I refreshed the cache several times and I do not see any changes being made to the class. I even tried deleted the original template “content-single.php” in the virtue folder to see if there was overlapping but no luck. I even tried adding the code <?php echo "Testing!"; ?> still no luck.

Can you please inform me how I can make changes to the template and why it sometimes does not show up?

    Thanks,
    Emre

Hi Milla, your site is also very slow. Have you checked out this site- http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/eAKisZ/http://autuuttaaivoille.fi/
Have you also tried Ben’s advice-

I would consider getting better hosting. But you can also remove all your extra plugins trim it down to only what is absolutely needed, add in some caching with a plugin like w3 total cache.

    Thanks Ben!

I should have caught that. We went with WP Fastest Cache. It has good reviews and it’s really easy to set up. So far, so good — though we’ll take a closer look when traffic starts going up.

    #33738

Kaval, I see your add to any on the left center side of your website. I don’t see anything anywhere else. Do you have a WP super Cache plugin installed or anything? Sometimes you have to clear that, too.

    #33706

    Hi Ben

Yea I cleared cache and it is still at the bottom, have since tried on another comp, and it is in the right place… Strange.

Why does that happen even though one has cleared cache?
Just thinking if that dud laptop was a customer’s it would not be showing as intended.

    Hey,
The theme has and just because the plugin doesn’t know the theme code structure doesn’t mean it’s not there. it’s there and it’s always been there. It’s standard for any theme.

I see your social icons on the left always visible. have you cleared your cache?

Hi, I only installed w3 after I saw the problem of charging images. I thought this could help speed up the charging of the images, but it din’t fix my problem. Now I deativated minify and emptied the cache, but the problem is still there. Do you think I should uninstall the theme and put the older version back? Isn’t it too risky?

    #33686

If you wanted to go backwards you would remove the current theme you have installed, just delate it and then upload the older version.

But I don’t recommend that, especially if your only issue is that you need to clear your minify cache.

    Ben

    #33684

Did you clear your w3 total cache. You have minify on and if you don’t regenerate your js files it would cause this.

Update. Here is what I received from my current web host. I’m not sure I believe what they are saying — that W3 TC slows web sites down. What do you think?

    ***************

I have verified that the plugin is working. You can look at pingdom and see all the minify.php requests instead of direct java script. Like we said earlier this plugin tends to slow down peoples websites and not improve the speed.

When the plugin is enabled – http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bSdBxy/http://kamadoworks.com/
Load time 2.37 seconds and 53 requests.

When the plugin is disabled – http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/d5LOQD/http://kamadoworks.com/
Load time 2.10 seconds and 76 requests.

There are a few “real ways” to speed up your website and these cache plugins tend to do more harm than good.
    – Move your web hosting to a dedicated cloud server with solid state drives
    – Setup a real cdn that will deliver your static content (pictures, javascript, css, etc) https://www.totalserversolutions.com/CDN.php
    – Disable any features that are enabled in word press that your website does not need or use.
    – Disable extra plugins that are not required
    – Optimize your website by compressing images and reducing file sizes.

I would highly recommend our CDN as thats the best and easiest way to speed up your website. Please visit our cdn page to learn more about a content delivery network.

    Hi guys,

Our web host is struggling a little with W3 Total Cache support, and I was wondering if you thought it would be a good idea to switch to a WordPress focused host.

Does it matter (or is TSS good enough)?

If who you pick for hosting really does matter, who do you recommend?

    Thanks!

Some things to note, some servers work well with database and object caching, others don’t testing with those on and off is a good idea.

    1. http://gtmetrix.com/reports/kamadoworks.com/8vkRlP5e
I’m seeing things missing that should be there from w3 total cache, like expired header, page caching and fewer HTTP requests. It’s now showing that those are happening? If you have it on you might want to contact your host about there support of these things.

    2. Based on the location that you run pingdom from it can make a huge difference. Make sure you test from the same location that most of your audience will be viewing from.

    http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/eVgsH/http://kamadoworks.com/

Basically your caching doesn’t seem to be working, and you don’t have your files minified. Can you turn minify on so I can see?

    3. Odd.. not sure why that would be. if your sure it’s there and copied like it’s supposed to be then you should be fine.

    4. ? What SEO extension?

always remember the most important thing about page speed is your loading time, not what grade you get it’s only to be helpful but it’s very possible to have a great grade and still have a really slow site.

    Hey guys,

I have turned off W3 Total Cache minify and database caching, but have included browser, page and object.

Do you think I should invest the time at this point to working out what’s wrong with W3 TC, try a different WordPress caching plugin, or leave it as-is.

Thanks for all of your help!
