In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: How do I set w3 total cache.
February 21, 2015 at 12:49 pm #32002It would be your server that would have a special setting if there is a need for one.
Start by only activating the page cache and browser cache. Then test. some plugins won’t work well with minify so if minify is your issue that could be a plugin. Also some servers don’t work well with a database cache. Contact your hosting company.Ben

February 21, 2015 at 11:25 am #31983Hi Ben.
I had problems with w3 total cache with virtue, if you have a special setting to work with virtual and woocommerce.
It would be helpful for my site.
Thank You.In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Images not displaying or uploading
February 21, 2015 at 10:52 am #31974Hey,
There isn’t anything that the theme would need to change, it defiantly doesn’t control image uploading and it isn’t possible for a theme to add 403 server blocking to image. Your server blocking images and all your cached data – that is the 403 – error.Start by deactivating whatever caching plugin your using. That will at least show what scripts are being blocked.

That is great feedback Ben!
I gave the EWWW Image Optimizer over SmushIt, and I’m going to switch. It has more options, and it does a good job on bulk optimizations. Thanks for the recommendation.
For those thinking that w3 total cache is a bit overwhelming, or who are using different cache technologies, Autoptimize may do wonders to your site – it did on several I testet. Autooptimize is aggregating and minimizing JS, CSS and HTML and is VERY easy to use. https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/
CloudFlare is not a magic bullet, but might help under some circumstances but I agree with you totally, do thorough testing.

February 17, 2015 at 11:46 am #31491Hey,
1. 162.2 kB for the icon file. It’s not large enough that you would see or should see a difference in loading time. Not like you would if you used one of the many other options. it’s very much possible to remove or replace but I would hold off on that and focus on the real issues. To give you an example, this is the demo site: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/dJchG/http://themes.kadencethemes.com/pinnacle-demo-content/
See that the total size is larger then your site. and yet it loads way way faster.
2. Use the “page title” option. In the theme options > home slider. Choose “page title” and you set a background image and text. No slider needed.
3. admin ajax is quite normal and part of wordpress. no way around not loading that. I don’t see or know what you mean by http://arcticcampers.no/page/2/ my only guess is you had infinite scroll on?
Some notes about speed. Looking at this test for example: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bDCFI4/http://arcticcampers.no/
1. There can not be enough said about a good server. If you are wanting a professional site with professional speed you have to use a professional server. You do really get what you pay for.
2. Like bjarne mentioned caching is a great tool and I personally recommend using w3 total cache plugin. Easy to control and adds in your minify options (number 3).
3. Minify your css and js. Assuming your not using a plugin that can’t handle this it’s a great option and w3 total cache can build for you.
4. Don’t load plugins your not using. For example if you aren’t using cyclone slider then deactivate.
5. I like EWWW Image Optimizer over smushit.
6. In all my testing i’ve never found cloudflare to be helpful unless your on an extremely slow server. But others have so I won’t not recommend it I would just say do the testing.

Interesting. Did you try clearing your cache (perhaps you have an old version still cached from prior forum troubleshooting)? I’ve cleared any cache limits on my end as well, just in case.
I’m still showing a broken layout.
To clarify, I’m using the Homepage Layout Manager located in Theme Options > Home Layout.
I have “Image Menu”, “Page Content”, and “Latest Blog Posts” enabled.
The “Latest Blog Posts” is what’s breaking.
Here’s my layout settings: http://imgur.com/oqTiquh (Theme Options > Home Layout)
Here’s what I’m seeing on my homepage: http://imgur.com/oqTiquh (broken, only one post and home page)
Here’s what I see when I remove the Portfolio Carousel from my post: http://imgur.com/oabSxaA (last four posts show correctly)
The Carousel is at the bottom of my post, as shown here: http://imgur.com/SlSjU8e
EDIT: Your custom excerpt solution DID work, though the problem is still one I’d like to remedy, if possible. Maybe that might be fixed in a future update? I’m mostly concerned about this because I will not always be the one managing the website, and I dislike having hidden bugs and unclear workarounds. I’ve had to start making custom documentation for future web devs 🙂

February 15, 2015 at 11:48 pm #31252Images seem fine, you can always save a little more by using more compression if your saving out of photoshop in the save for web feature.
Also you can defiantly speed the whole site up with caching, I recommend w3 total cache when you done developing.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Google Page Insights – Mobile Problems
February 13, 2015 at 11:02 am #30981Hey,
One of the main google complaints is breadcrumbs. Your options are to add padding to the links or remove them on mobile.
Padding would be this css:#kadbreadcrumbs a, #kadbreadcrumbs span {
padding: 10px;
}Your cookies popup is causing some of the issues for sure. Don’t have any advice for you there. Might try talking to the plugin developer about some creative ways to show it on mobile.
Your share buttons are also being targeted as issues. You can add more padding to them or remove for mobile.
.woo_share_buttons { height: auto; padding: 10px; }PS. I recommend caching (w3 total cache).

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Google Analytics Not Working
February 12, 2015 at 4:09 am #30786Dear Ben, 1.Thank you for your help. I understood where to put the file that google wants. 2. I am not using cache. google’s error message is follows:“The Google Analytics tracking code on your site is in the wrong location. You can verify site ownership with the asynchronous snippet placed in the <head> section of your home page.”So,this is what I understand that: This code is available on my site. But it’s on the wrong place. As you said, the code in the footer could be a problem ? Thank you in advance.
